Windows 10 Redstone 4 Build 17004 released with new Fluent Design effect

While Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is right across the corner, Microsoft already working on next Windows 10 major update. Microsoft rolling out Windows 10 Insider Preview build 17004 for the Windows Insider in the Skip Ahead ring.

Windows 10 build 17004 is a part of the Redstone 4 development. Build 17004 includes a new Fluent Design element and dozens of enhancements. Microsoft Edge gets the significent improvement with this build. The performance during search and input focus also improved. Build 17004 automatically adds shortcut of Edge to desktop.

Talking about Fluent Design element, Microsoft added “Reveal” effect to the All Apps list in the Start Menu and tiles. The Reveal Effect will effectively “light” up the item your mouse is hovering over. Furthermore, they also added a new option named “Color & high contrast” in settings app. This new color color filters help to see screen more clearly. You can choose different types of filters such as Invert, Grayscale, Grayscale Inverted and more.

In my opinion, this color filter effect still need some improvement. Catchy taskbar icon looks hideous with color filter. Since this is the first major build for the Redstone 4 it’s quite enough that we have many UI tweaks rather than just few under hood changes. Upcoming Windows 10 Insider Preview build for the Skip Ahead branch will surely include some new major features. But till that sit tight and wait for it.

In case if you missed it Microsoft will begun rolling out Windows 10 Fall Creators Update to production ring user on October 17. Stay tune to Insiders Arena for more update. And do let us know in a comment below if you find any major changes in this build.
