WhatsApp Beta updated with Pinned Contact feature for Windows Phone


A billion user app WhatsApp to finally get pinned contact feature for Windows Phone. The company rolled out an update to the WhatsApp beta app for Windows Phone users. The latest update bring general fixes and improvements along with that new feature.

Though, pinned contact feature is already available in the Android version of the app and now company finally bringing it for the Windows Phone users. The latest version 2.17.176 of the WhatsApp Beta app allow you to pin up to 3 contacts to the top of the chat list. This will surely improve the ease of access and reliability.

But the recent reports suggests that the Microsoft to drop support for the Silverlight app. Which means user will not able to run old Windows Phone apps on latest Windows 10 Mobile build. A report already claimed that Microsoft already pulled support for the Silverlight app from that accidental released build 16212.

So maybe in future you will not able to use WhatsApp on latest Windows 10 Mobile build. And Facebook is not going to invest in the whole new UWP app. But there is a possibility in that they could use Project Islandwood and port the iOS version of the app directly for the Windows 10 users just like they did it for Instagram, Facebook and Messenger.

But at this moment it’s quite unclear what will to happen with the Windows 10 Mobile in future? It’s a controversial topic.
