Microsoft’s annual developer event Build 2017 is right around the corner. At Build 2017 Microsoft will talk about Project NEON, Windows Insider Program, Redstone 3 and more. But the main thing to focus on is the future of UWP app.
With the Continuum feature for Windows 10 Mobile devices Microsoft introduced Universal Windows Platform concept. One of the benefits of developing a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app in the Hosted Web App format is that developers can essentially repackage coding they’ve already written for web apps and use that work as a basis for their Windows 10 app. Several companies have taken advantage of this convenient app development method and released rather impressive apps on the Windows Store.
But now with the demise of the Windows 10 Mobile company needs to figure out a way to manage this. However, the effective and efficient solutions in most us mind would be start the production of Lumia device again or bring mysterious Surface Phone. But deep down we all know nothing’s gonna happen about it anytime soon. So what else?
Microsoft needs to explain that alternative strategy to bring more and more UWP apps, and developers aren’t preferring UWP as fast as Microsoft hoped. So, they needs to reassure developers that UWP is here to stay and encourage developers to build for it by outlining the future plan of the UWP.
And if Microsoft isn’t willing to talk the Windows 10 Mobile, then they must needs to tell developers where UWP actually headed. No offence there many big company are still planning to develop the UWP app, but in another hand many companies already stopped support for their app such as Shazam.
