Microsoft rolling out major update to Skype UWP app for all Windows 10 devices


Last month Microsoft refurbished the Skype app for the iOS and Android devices by completely redesigning and introducing lots of new feature to the app. And now it’s time for the Windows. Last week Microsoft announced a major update to the Skype UWP.

Microsoft now rolling out major update to Skype UWP app for all Windows 10 devices including Mobile. The latest update bring lots of new features and so many UI tweaks to the app. The update was already rolled out the Windows Insiders a while ago and now it same update also available for the Production ring users.

In the latest update they removed the hamburger menu from the app and all those settings are merged on a single page. New design looks a lot like to the Skype for Windows (win32) app. They also rearranged the user profile picture, settings, profile details and all other settings. Find new contact and number pad also get UI tweaks and they are also improved.

Another major feature in this update is that they added a whole new Skype sharing support in the app. You can now share anything (including links, mail, webpage from edge and more) in Skype from any apps in a conversation or group.

With the latest update the app has been bumped to the version 11.19.820.0. The overall performance of the app also improved and now it became more easier to start a new conversation and maintain profile. User can now also interact with different emoji to the messages.

In case if you are wondering “Highlights” (story like feature) is not available in the app yet. But we are expecting that company will implement this feature with the upcoming update; maybe after Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
