Microsoft re-brands View 3D as Mixed Reality Viewer

It looks like next Windows 10 major update will also focused on Mix reality and Creativity. Microsoft re-brands the View 3D app as Mixed Reality Viewer. They rolled out an update to the View 3D app for the Windows Insider in the Skip ahead ring.

The latest update not only change the name of the app, but also brings a whole new interface, revamped design and tons of new features. In case if you don’t the View 3D app allow users to view 3D models from different angles. User can pan, zoom, and control orbit of image with mouse, touch, pen, or keyboard.

The latest update bring new loading animation. You will see a small 3D cube when loading the app and contents. Microsoft also changed the place of controllers. You will find all controls (information, controls, virtual camera, and full-screen display) at the top of the window. They also improved scaling of app for small window. The controls will automatically be grouped for smaller window.

Furthermore, you will notice that the “All-In-Camera” and “Timer” icons have been re-positioned at the bottom left. Apart from that the app also received overall general fixes and performance improvement. The app also updated with more Fluent Design elements.

Microsoft has a lot in the pipeline for Windows 10 over the next 12 months. Windows Mixed Reality with Redstone 4 turning out to be a pretty big update for Windows 10, Windows 10 ARM and Xbox One.
