Microsoft investigating random shutdown issue on Surface Pro

UPDATE [July 2017]: Microsoft rolling out Firmware –233.1763.257.0 to the Surface Pro devices which fixed the random shutdown issue. You can download this update from the Surface Pro Drivers and Firmware page.

Since a week, many Surface Pro users are complaining about the random shutdown of the device. In some cases user also loss the data. But now Microsoft officially acknowledged the this random shutdown issue and also informed users that they are actively working on a fix.

In Microsoft Community Forum, Engineer Bryan H. posted that company is aware of the randomization shutdown issue and also identified cause of it. He also mentioned that that very soon company will fix this issue and will roll out an update to the Surface Pro devices.

In case if you are wondering, the latest Windows 10 cumulative update (Tuesday patch) didn’t bring the fix. Company will roll out a special update to Surface Pro users once it pass the internal testing. However they didn’t provided any time-frame when they will roll out an update. But since this is the critical issue we are expecting that the company will roll out the update in next couple of week if everything goes okay with the internal testing.
