Microsoft Edge gets new Dark theme, Fluent Design elements, Web Media extensions and more


Microsoft finally rolling out new Windows 10 Insider Preview Build for the Windows Insiders in the Skip Ahead ring. Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17063 bring tons of new features and enhancement over the last public preview build.

Microsoft Edge received significant improvement with Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17063. Edge gets a new updated Dark theme, with darker black contrast colors. The icons and typography also updated. Reveal effect of Fluent Design element also arrive with this update. You can see reveal effect on navigation buttons, action menu, favorites, bookmarks, history, downloads and at more places. The main tab bar also updated with the Acrylic effect.

With Build 17063 adding and managing bookmarks for EPUB and PDF books became more easier. You can now add and manage list bookmarks at same locations. Microsoft Edge now also supports Service Workers and the Push and Cache APIs. That means that web pages now able to send push notifications to Action Center even when the browser is not open.

As we revealed earlier this month; Microsoft officially announced Web Media extensions package. It will automatically install 2 web media extensions and bring support for various media formats such as Ogg, Theora, Vorbis. The purpose of these extensions is to enhances Windows 10 experience by letting users to you play more file types on across the devices.

Furthermore, this build also introduces new gesture experience for Precision Touch Pads.  Microsoft is also adding support for offline web sites. That means certain web pages can now work offline by using locally cached data when the cache is up to date. Apart from that Microsoft Edge also received general performance improvement and bug fixes.
