A major update coming to Microsoft Photos app


Microsoft Photos app is about to get a major update. At Build 2017, Microsoft announced that they are working on a companion app for Microsoft Photos. And now it’s ready hit Windows Insiders.

As reported by Aggiornamenti Lumia, an advance version of the Microsoft Photos app will allow users to import photos from their mobile device to PC or laptop using Photos Companion app. Of course both devices are need to connected over the same Wi-Fi network. The app is will also receive some serious Fluent design elements effects.

In addition the Story Remix feature is also getting some significant improvements. Story Remix a modern version of Windows Movie maker will soon allows you to add stickers in videos and they are also added new transitions effects. Just like Remix 3D community Microsoft is likely to introduce a new marketplace to get stickers of different characters of games, emoji, movies, cars, etc. Text on video will be more customizable, you can now change color, size, transparency of text.

Apart from that Photos app will also receive design and performance improvements. With new version they moved the search-bar the at the left top corner. A new favorite section is also coming to the app. In case if you are wondering, Photos Companion app will be available for both Android and iOS. And there is less possibility that it will arrive on Windows 10 Mobile.

It’s quite unclear at the moment whether the companion app will show photos from OneDrive or not because the OneDrive photos are already synced with Windows 10 Photos app. We’ll soon hear more information about it from the company in upcoming weeks. Stay tune to Insiders Arena for more updates.
